30X Express

1988–89

Silverton Yachts 30X Express
The 30X Express was second in a series of sportboat designs introduced by Silverton in the late 1980s beginning with the original 34X model in 1987. In spite of her shorter length, the addition of an integral swim platform made the 30X a better-looking boat than her predecessor. Unlike most modern express cruiser designs, the 30X does not have a mid-cabin interior with sterndrive power. Instead, she has a single-stateroom layout that allows for a full-size engine room with inboard power rather than I/Os. The main cabin features a full-length convertible lounge, hanging locker, and a large U-shaped dinette. Three overhead hatches provide plenty of natural light, and the forward double berth is flanked by shelving and a vanity. Topside, a companion seat to port and bench seating along the transom will seat five or six guests. Additional features include four opening ports, radar arch, molded bow pulpit, and transom door. With standard 270hp gas engines, the 30X will cruise in the low 20s and reach a top speed of 30 knots. Perhaps because she lacked a mid-cabin interior, the 30X didn’t last very long in the market and production ended after only two years.
