F42-5 Flybridge
2002–05
The Sealine F42/5 (so named because of her innovative extendable cockpit) was among the few flybridge sedans her size available with a three-stateroom interior. That said, the standard two-stateroom layout proved more popular because of the more spacious salon. Regardless of the interior layout, the 42/5 gets high marks with experienced owners for her quality engineering and construction. Of the many notable features of the Sealine 42/5, perhaps the most practical is the ability to extend the cockpit by nearly 3 feet at the touch of a button. There’s an enormous storage lazarette below the cockpit, and molded steps lead up to the extended flybridge with seating for eight and swivel helm seat. Although the engine room, accessed via hatches in the salon sole, seems small, most of the secondary pumps, etc., are located in the lazarette which adds a measure of serviceability. Visibility from the lower helm is excellent, but the side decks are narrow and care is necessary in going forward, especially while underway. Twin 480hp Volvo diesels cruise the Sealine 42/5 Flybridge in the mid to high 20s and reach a top speed of just over 30 knots.
