63 Motor Yacht

Designed by Ed Monk and built in Taiwan, the Ocean Alexander 63 Motor Yacht is a semicustom, long-range cruiser whose pleasing lines give this boat a solid, muscular look under way. Indeed, the 63 was considered a rakish boat in the late 1980s, and her semi-displacement hull delivers a good blend of comfort and stability. The extended deckhouse and widebody design provide an attractive shape outside and an enormous living space within. The standard floorplan is arranged with four staterooms on the lower level—including a huge amidships guest stateroom—and an expansive, full-width salon which is open to the galley and wheelhouse. Indeed, the salon seems unusually spacious for a 63-footer with plenty of natural lighting and excellent headroom. A private stairway aft in the salon leads down to the master stateroom (and walk-in engine room), while a second staircase to port ascends to the flybridge. Wing doors—plus a wheelhouse door—provide convenient deck access. Topside, there’s enough room on the bridge to entertain a small crowd. Among several engine options, 735hp 8V92 diesels cruise the Alexander 63 MY at 15 knots and reach a top speed of about 18 knots.
