Sedan trawlers may not be as popular as their double-cabin counterparts, but they offer great versatility to those willing to forego the comforts of a private aft stateroom. In the Ocean Alexander 40 Sedan, owners get a full-length salon on the same level as the cockpit—a layout that affords more entertaining potential than traditional double-cabin trawlers, as well as direct access to the water. Built on a solid fiberglass hull with moderate beam and a shallow keel for stability and prop protection, her two-stateroom floorplan is arranged with the galley forward in the salon, opposite the lower helm. Note that the salon dimensions are somewhat modest thanks to the boat’s wide side decks—a trade-off most experienced cruisers will gladly accept. The interior is completely finished out with teak woodwork and trim, and a deck access door at the helm provides easy access to the foredeck. Additional features include extended flybridge, transom door, teak decks (including the flybridge), and a teak swim platform.
