426 Classico

The renewed popularity of trawler-style yachts during the 1990s continued with the introduction of the Alexander’s 426 Classico, a stylish sedan cruiser from the design board of the highly regarded Ed Monk, Jr. (Note that she was called the 423 Classico in her first year of production.) She’s built on a modified-V hull with a shallow, prop-protecting keel, prop pockets, and a wide beam. Her standard galley-up floorplan includes two staterooms with a centerline queen berth in the owner’s cabin and single berths in the guest stateroom. The head comes with a separate stall shower, and a sliding deck door at the lower helm provides convenient access to the foredeck. The salon dimensions of the 426 Classico are very generous in spite of the wide side decks. In a departure from most sedan layouts, there’s a second portside deck door abaft the galley in the salon—a nice touch. Topside, the extended flybridge can accommodate an 11-foot inflatable. Additional features include a full teak interior, radar arch, and a transom door. Cummins 220hp diesels cruise the 426 Classico at 10–12 knots. Optional 350hp Cats diesels cruise at 16–18 knots.
