600-630 Motor Yacht

Introduced as the Ocean Alexander 600 MY in 1992, the 630 MY is one of the more elegantly styled motor yachts available in recent years. She’s built on a moderate deadrise hull with a shallow keel, prop pockets, and a relatively wide beam. Inside, the original three-stateroom floorplan is arranged Euro-style with the galley and dinette on the pilothouse level, two steps up from the salon. The opulent master stateroom (there’s a Jacuzzi in the head) is amidships where the ride is best, and the bow stateroom has an island bed and private head access. Crew quarters are aft, beneath the cockpit sole, with twin single berths, an enclosed head and an entryway to the engine room. (Note that we have been unable to obtain more recent floorplan diagrams from the builder.) Additional features include pilothouse wing doors, a roomy cockpit, weather-protected walkaround side decks, a well-arranged but small flybridge (for a 63-footer) with space for a dinghy, and twin curved stairways molded into the transom. A good performer, standard 660hp Cat diesels (or 735hp 8V92 Detroits) will cruise the 630 MY at 18–20 knots.
