44 Sundeck

The Nova 44 Sundeck (known on the East Coast as the Heritage 44 Sundeck) is an expanded version of the popular Nova 42 with slightly enlarged salon and aft cabin dimensions and a larger aft deck. Like her sistership, the 44 was built on a solid fiberglass hull with moderate beam and a long prop-protecting keel. Inside, the Nova’s two-stateroom floorplan is arranged with the galley and dinette down from the salon level, a relatively conventional layout for a cruising boat although the lack of a stall shower in the forward head is unfortunate. Note the large master stateroom. The teak woodwork—some of which is hand carved—is first-rate throughout. A sliding deck door adjacent to the lower helm provides easy access to the foredeck. The full-width aft deck of the Nova is large enough for entertaining a small crowd, and the flybridge will seat six around the helm. Additional features include a hardtop, radar arch, aft deck wet bar and swim platform. Twin 135hp Perkins or Lehman diesels cruise the Nova 44 Sundeck at 8 knots (about 10 knots top), and optional 200hp Perkins diesels cruise at 10–12 knots (15 knots top).
