40 Sundeck

One of the most popular Taiwan imports of her era, the Nova 40 Sundeck remains a desirable boat on the used market thanks to her spacious layout, traditional teak interior, and generally affordable price. She was built on a solid fiberglass, modified-V hull with moderate beam, a relatively deep, prop-protecting keel, and a shallow keel for directional stability. Several galley-down floorplans were offered during her production years, and all featured a dinette on the lower level as well as a centerline double berth in the aft cabin. Most Nova 40s were delivered with a lower helm, and the forward stateroom is best described as a tight fit. The salon dimensions are about average for a boat this size with both the galley and dinette down—compact, but comfortable. The Oriental teak carving on bulkhead doors is impressive, and the traditional all-teak interior is very well finished. Outside, the covered aft deck comes with a wet bar and wing doors. Several diesel engine options were offered over the years. Twin 135hp Lehmans cruise 8 knots, and a pair of 165hp Volvos cruise at 9–10 knots.
