42 Sundeck

A successful combination of price, comfort, and performance, the Nova 42 Sundeck (also marketed as the Heritage 40 Sundeck) became one of the best buys in the small motoryacht market during the late 1980s. Like all Nova designs of the period, she was built in Taiwan on a solid fiberglass semi-displacement hull with moderate beam, hard chines, and a long, prop-protecting keel. Among several floorplans offered over the years, a roomy two-stateroom layout with the galley down became the most popular. A lower helm was a popular option and solid teak cabinetry and teak paneling highlight the traditional interior. Topside, the full-width aft deck—with its teak overlay and built-in wet bar—is very spacious for a 42-footer. Additional features include a large flybridge, salon deck door, hardtop, radar arch, and swim platform. Note the generous fuel and water capacity. Standard 135hp diesels cruise efficiently at an 9–10 knots and reach a top speed of around 12 knots, and twin 185hp Perkins cruise at 12–13 knots and deliver a top speed in the neighborhood of 16 knots. Note that Novatec built an updated 42 Sundeck in 1999–2002.
