Mikelson Yachts
70 Sportfisher
2001–04
Built in Taiwan and marketed to West Coast anglers, the Mikelson 70 is a luxury sportfishing yacht whose distinctive appearance sets her well apart from conventional East Coast convertibles. Aside from her rakish profile, the most distinctive feature of the Mikelson 70 is her unique afterdeck—what Mikelson calls the “Lanai Deck”—a 90-square-foot platform overlooking the cockpit with lounge seating and a day head. Below, the Mikelson’s interior is arranged with five staterooms, three forward of the engine room and twin crew cabins aft (accessed from the cockpit). With the galley and dinette forward on the pilothouse level, the main salon of the Mikelson 70 is huge. The amidships guest stateroom is nearly as large as the master stateroom, and each stateroom contains an en suite head. Topside, the large flybridge has fore and aft steering stations as well as lounge seating for six. Additional features include a spacious engine room, cherry interior woodwork, swim platform, transom bait tanks, and wide side decks. Built on a fully cored hull with prop pockets, the Mikelson 70 will cruise in the mid 20s and top out at close to 30 knots with 1,400hp Caterpillar diesels.
