64 Sportfisher
1998–2001
The Mikelson 64 is a long-range West Coast fisherman with unusually spacious accommodations and an aggressive, low-profile appearance. This is a big yacht—indeed, her 19-foot-plus beam is by far the widest of any boat this size. Based on the company’s successful 72- and 78-foot yachts (and built in Taiwan), the 64 compromises little in the way of comfort and luxury. Her standard three-stateroom three-head interior includes a full-beam master amidships with a centerline king bed, and the wide beam of the 64 translates into a huge salon with an aft-facing settee on the lower level and the galley and dinette forward on the upper level. Like her larger sistership, an observation deck (with a day head) overlooks the 210 square-foot cockpit which is fully rigged with baitwells, two fish boxes, tackle center and a control station. Beneath the observation deck is a crew cabin with head and direct engine room access. Topside, the flybridge features a wraparound helm, a circular settee, refrigerator and aft controls. Built on an efficient, fully cored modified-V hull, twin 1,300hp Caterpillar 3412 diesels cruise the Mikelson 64 at 25 knots and reach a top speed of just over 30 knots.
