262 Center Console

1997–2000

Intrepid Yachts 262 Center Console
Considered by many to be among the finest 26-foot center consoles of her era, the Intrepid 262 made the cut with anglers and cruisers alike. Unlike the original Intrepid 26 Center Console (1988–96), the 262 is built on a high-performance stepped hull with a wider beam and significantly more deck space. The 262 was offered in two configurations: Plan A has a marine head forward, and Plan B replaces the head with more deck space. The deck layout is arranged with a livewell in the center of the cockpit, aft of the leaning post, a big fish box (with macerator), and four in-deck storage boxes flanking the cockpit and the center console. Additional storage compartments are located in the forward gunwales as well as beneath the cushioned seat in front of the console. An anchor locker, rod holders, trim tabs, and under-gunwale rod racks are standard. An extremely well-finished boat (and priced accordingly), twin 200hp outboards cruise the Intrepid 262 Center Console at a fast 35 knots and deliver a top speed in the neighborhood of 52–54 knots. Intrepid reportedly quit building this boat only to focus on their larger, more profitable models.
