2670 Island Runner

1998–08

Glacier Bay 2670 Island Runner
The Glacier Bay 2670 Island Runner is a good-quality walkaround catamaran with a large fishing cockpit and comfortable (for a cat) cabin accommodations. She rides on full-displacement hulls that were retooled in 1999 with a finer entry and wider chines. When it comes to fishing boats, the advantages of catamarans are well known: a better ride in poor sea conditions, reduced power requirements (due to the more efficient hulls), increased range, improved stability and more casting space at the bow. Note that the Island Runner’s cabin is slightly off-center to port which puts the cabin over one of the hulls, thereby increasing the headroom below. (It also means that the starboard walkaround is wider than the portside walkaround.) Standard fishing features include an oval livewell under the helm seat, two in-deck fish boxes, coaming bolsters, tackle center and rod storage. In the cabin, a queen-size berth is over the tunnel and a spacious head compartment is located in the port hull. Among several outboard possibilities, twin Yamaha 150hp engines cruise the 260 Island Runner at 25 knots (at about two mpg) and reach a top speed of around 30 knots.
