Glacier Bay 2640 Renegade
A popular boat, the Glacier Bay 2640 Renegade is a roomy dual console runabout whose full-displacement hulls deliver one of the smoothest rides of any catamaran her size. As a fishing boat, the standard Renegade interior offers a roomy aft cockpit with four-tray tackle box, cleaning station/wet bar with sink, raw water washdown, and large fish box (under the helm seat). A small livewell is oddly located under the aft lounge seat, and there’s a second in-sole fish box forward, between the bow seats. The L-lounge on the bridge deck will seat four, and an enclosed head is concealed in the port console. Note the dual rod racks under the gunwales. Space for an optional refrigerator is found within the driver-side console. The Renegade was also offered with an alternate “SX” cruising layout with extended lounge seating and a removable teak table. On the downside, the windshield is a little short in both versions. The Renegade’s 8'9" beam is just three inches over the legal limit for trailering without a permit—no state trooper will ever notice. A well-built boat, Yamaha 150 outboards cruise efficiently at 25 knots (mid 30 knots top).
