48

During her late 1990s production years, the Ferretti 48 MY (originally called the Ferretti 135) was a high-style Italian import whose sleek Mediterranean profile and high-octane performance were characteristics seldom associated with American-built motor yachts of that era. The 48’s deep-V hull is cored in the hullsides and features a unique egg-crate framing system on the bottom—a high-tech method of construction then common to all Ferretti hulls. Her three-stateroom European floorplan is arranged with the dinette forward, opposite the lower helm, and a sunken galley in the salon. Both heads are fitted with circular stall showers, and a single-berth crew cabin is aft, beneath the cockpit sole. (A two-stateroom layout with the galley down was also available.) It should be noted that the level of detailing and workmanship found aboard the Ferretti 48 is extraordinary for a production yacht. Additional features include a well-appointed salon with a large U-shaped leather settee, a huge swim platform designed to stow an inflatable, and a spacious flybridge. With a pair of 435hp Cats, the Ferretti 48 will cruise at 25 knots and reach a top speed in the neighborhood of 28–29 knots.
