Cranchi

40-41 Mediterranee

1993–2002

Cranchi 40-41 Mediterranee
Marketed as a 40-footer until 1998 when Cranchi added an extended swim platform, the Italian-built 41 Mediterranee proved a popular model for Cranchi following her introduction in 1993. By today’s sportboat standards, the Mediterranee’s styling is conservative and her narrow 12-foot, 6-inch beam takes a toll on the interior dimensions. Note that there’s no midcabin under the cockpit of the 41 Mediterranee; this is a straight-inboard boat and the central location of the engines dictates that the cabin accommodations not extend aft of the companionway. Built on a deep-V hull with prop pockets, the two-stateroom layout is an Italian blend of quality furnishings, high-end hardware, and pastel wall coverings. With her narrow beam and well-forward center of gravity, this is an exceptional rough-water boat. Outside, the helm and companion seat are elevated from the cockpit level for improved visibility. A hatch in the teak cockpit sole provides access to a surprisingly spacious engine compartment—a rarity in any European boat. The Mediterranee will cruise in the mid 20s (about 30 knots top) with a pair of 370hp Volvo diesels.
