34 Zaffiro

A downsized version of the Cranchi Smeraldo 36, the Zaffiro 34 is a high-quality Italian sportboat with elegant cabin accommodations, a good-running deep-V hull, and a first-class deck layout. The subdued decor of the Zaffiro’s mid-cabin interior is a refreshing change from the high-glitz decors of so many sportboats. Unlike most of her competitors, both staterooms are fitted with privacy doors (instead of curtains), and the European appliances and rounded corners give the Zaffiro that distinctive Continental character. (On the downside, the companionway steps are way too steep.) Outside, there’s plenty of guest seating with a settee opposite the helm and a big U-shaped cockpit settee with a removable cocktail table. The two-tiered helm provides space for flush-mounting the necessary electronics, and a molded wet bar is abaft the helm seat. Because the side decks are narrow, a walk-through windshield provides access to the bow. Additional features include a folding radar arch, plenty of dry storage, and good engine access. An impressive performer with relatively small 260hp Volvo diesel sterndrives, the Zaffiro will cruise at 25 knots (about 30 top).
