4227 Cockpit Motor Yacht

1986–88

Carver Yachts 4227 Cockpit Motor Yacht
Never ranked among the more popular models in her class (only a few were built), the distinctive styling of the Carver 4227 Cockpit Motor Yacht makes her an easy boat to find on a crowded dock. Together with the better-selling Carver 4207 Motor Yacht, the 4227 was the largest boat in the Carver fleet during the mid 1980s, a period of rapid growth for this Wisconsin-based company. Offered with one or two staterooms, the galley-down interior is notable for an unusually large master stateroom with its large hanging locker and private access to the head/shower. While the salon dimensions are modest for a yacht this size, oversized windows provide excellent natural lighting as well as panoramic outside views. A full-size refrigerator, microwave, and double sink are found in the galley, and a central vacuum system and salon dry bar were standard. The engine room is reached via hatches in the salon sole. The Carver’s roomy cockpit—partially shaded by a bridge overhang—is perfect for fishing, entertaining, or diving. A transom door opens to the swim platform, and wide side decks make it easy to get around. No racehorse, MerCruiser 350hp gas engines cruise the 4227 at 13–14 knots cruise (low 20s top).
