Carver Yachts
2667 Santa Cruz
1980–87
You can count the number of trailerable flybridge sedans on one hand for a few good reasons: they are generally heavy and difficult to trailer, launching is a major hassle, and a 26-foot boat with a slender eight-foot beam becomes unstable in a hurry with two people on the bridge. That said, Carver built this model for a long time and she’s actually a rather stylish boat considering her built-in limitations. Hull construction is solid fiberglass, and although the interior accommodations are a bit cramped Carver designers managed to include all the amenities necessary for weekend family cruising including a lower helm, standup head compartment, and berths for four adults. A privacy curtain separates the V-berths from the rest of the cabin, and headroom is about 6 feet throughout. Topside, the roomy cockpit is a pleasant surprise, and the bench seat at the transom can be converted into a sun lounge. Side decks are practically nonexistent. All 2667s were powered by a single gas engine, and an inboard was available in addition to the standard sterndrive installations. A MerCruiser 260hp sterndrive will cruise at 18 knots (high 20s top).
