Carver Yachts
2657 Montego
1985–87
Based on the earlier 2687 Monterey (1980–84) and sharing nearly identical specifications and a similar profile, the Carver 2657 Montego is a completely different boat below with a midcabin layout and a lot more room. Carver’s designers extended the cabin full width, eliminating the side decks but adding more headroom forward and an aft cabin floorplan in place of the Monterey’s conventional layout. The midcabin is accessed via a privacy door in the angled bulkhead and features a standup dressing area in addition to a small settee. The V-berth forward is fitted with a dinette, and while the galley is very compact and storage is limited, the head compartment is surprisingly spacious and comes with a shower. Topside, the cockpit features a lounge and removable table with seating for four. Standard features include twin sun pads on the foredeck, bow pulpit, and swim platform. Because there are no side decks, foredeck access is best achieved through the forward-most deck hatch—an awkward procedure at best. A single 260hp MerCruiser I/O will cruise at 18 knots and deliver a top speed of 26–27 knots.
