26 Command Bridge; 280 Sedan
1991–98
The Carver 280 Sedan (called the Carver 26 Command Bridge in her first two years of production) has the distinction of being one of the smaller flybridge cruisers built in recent years. With her wide 9'6" beam, low-profile design, and sterndrive power the 280 offers an impressive blend of versatility and comfort. Below, the single-level interior features a compact galley with sink, refrigerator and propane stove to port, across from a standup head/shower compartment. Forward of the galley is a convertible two-person dinette, and a settee with optional lower helm is to starboard. An angled double berth forward is open to the main cabin, and wraparound windows provide good natural lighting throughout the interior. Remarkably, Carver designers were able to include a fair-size cockpit in this layout with room for fishing, entertaining, or diving. Topside, the compact flybridge will seat two passengers aft of the helm. A bow pulpit, transom seat, and transom door were standard. Hatches in the cockpit sole provide good access to the motors. A heavy boat for her size, a single 330hp MerCruiser I/O will cruise the Carver 280 Sedan at 16–18 knots. Twin MerCruiser 205hp V-6 I/Os cruise at 18–20 knots.
