3007 Aft Cabin

1981–83

Carver Yachts 3007 Aft Cabin
Carver’s innovative design and marketing skills were on full display in the early 1980s with the introduction of the 3007 Aft Cabin, a high-freeboard cruiser with more interior volume than many larger boats. Built on a solid fiberglass hull with a wide 11'4" beam, the layout of the 3007 offers two private staterooms in addition to a full-size galley and a separate stall shower in the head compartment. The salon, with its convertible hide-a-bed and two swivel chairs, is comfortable but certainly not spacious. A lower helm was standard, and large salon windows provide panoramic outside views. The decor—cheap mica paneling and dark teak trim—is seriously dated but so what, these boats are over 30 years old now. Interior storage space is at a premium in this boat. Engine access is via a hatch in the salon sole. Topside, the flybridge can seat four but aft deck is tiny with just enough space for a couple of folding deck chairs. Not surprisingly, her low-deadrise hull is a sjpgf ride in a chop. A transom boarding ladder, swim platform, and bow pulpit were standard. Twin 270hp gas engines cruise at 18–20 knots. Note that single-engine models have a full-length keel.
