3867 Santego
1988–90
A versatile boat with a spacious interior and party-size bridge, the wide 14-foot beam of the Carver 3867 Santego made her one of the biggest boats in her class. The Santego is what some manufacturers call an “express bridge” design—the single-level interior is two steps below the cockpit which accounts for her low-profile appearance. A sliding glass door with screen opens into the salon with its U-shaped dinette to starboard and L-shaped lounge to port. An ice maker and serving counter with two bar stools is further forward to port, and the Santego’s large galley with full-size refrigerator and double sink is notable for its generous storage and tons of counter space. The private head compartment, complete with toilet, vanity and large stall shower, is opposite the galley. The stateroom includes an island berth, hanging locker, and private head access. Topside, the Santego has one of the most user-friendly bridge layouts imaginable with lounge seating forward of the elevated helm. A gate in the forward bridge coaming conceals a set of molded steps leading to the foredeck. Note that the swim platform is not an integral part of the hull. No racehorse, 340hp V-drive gas engines cruise at 14–16 knots.
