New Features at the 2016 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show

By HMY   August 16, 2016

As the largest in-water boat show in the world, the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show is known to bring tons of revenue to town and it in fact makes more of an economic impact than hosting a Super Bowl. Spanning across seven different sites, the upcoming show will run from November 3-7 showcasing over 1,500 vessels and tons of marine products worth more than $4 billion. HMY Yacht Sales is proud to be one of the biggest players in the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show year after year. Our 2015 video demonstrates HMY's unmatched presence shows you how we do FLIBS.

With only a few more months to go until the 57th Annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, planning and preparation is in full swing. Organizers are announcing some changes and enhancements that will be implemented into this year’s event. Brett Keating, vice president of consumer marketing for Show Management, the event’s production company, stated that "Each year, we take steps to improve upon the last event. Guests can expect an elevated experience at this year's show,"

Some of the exciting upgrades that attendees can expect to see at the 57th Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show will include the following:

New and improved food and beverage options will be available to guests, including a buffet on the second floor of the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center site courtesy of in-house catering company, Savor. To beat the heat, the previously open-air Sailfish Pavilion in the parking lot of the convention center will now be air-conditioned. This area showcases the latest center consoles, personal watercraft and boating accessories. For first-time boaters and those who want to freshen up on their skills, there will be a boat-handling training sponsored by Carefree Boat Club. The workshop will include training on basic and advanced docking skills, anchoring and multi-vessel rafting techniques, open water boat handling and first mate skills

In addition, exhibition space and layouts across the show have been redesigned including the rebranding of the Yacht Builders Tent as the American Pavilion at the Bahia Mar Fort Lauderdale Beach Hotel & Yachting Center show location. The new American Pavilion is expected to showcase over 40 U.S. companies that serve the superyacht industry and will be sponsored by the U.S. Superyacht Association. Educational seminars regarding charter, travel, new technology and yacht toys will be featured at this site. Also new this year will be the Aft Deck VIP Lounge where USSA members can grab refreshments all day long. “We’ve more than doubled our space this year creating a unique destination within the show designed to shine the spotlight on American yachting service and cruising excellence,” said Kitty McGowan, manager of the USSA.

The former Yachting Tent showcase at Bahia Mar has also been redesigned and rebranded as the Superyacht Pavilion. This site will boast reconfigured aisles and a central, full-service bar serving food and drink daily. Returning boat show attendees can expect to see other exhibit name changes at Bahia Mar and can reference location maps and site plans in advance at Flibs.com. Another unique feature of the 57th edition of FLIBS is the event's first-ever travel give away of a boat show experience package which includes domestic, round-trip airfare for two to Ft. Lauderdale, a two-night hotel stay and four tickets to the boat show. The contest runs through Sept. 1. For further details, visit Facebook.com/FortLauderdaleInternationalBoatShow.
