F-30 Sport Cruiser

1973–79

Trojan Yachts F-30 Sport Cruiser
When she was introduced in 1973, the Trojan F-30 Sport Cruiser was something of a radical design. Trojan ads began by saying, “Don’t laugh, the more serious you are about fishing, the less strange she looks.” The Sport Cruiser was built on a solid fiberglass hull with a fairly wide beam and moderate transom deadrise. With her large bi-level cockpit and big tournament-style flybridge, the Sport Cruiser can indeed be fished, but with a 160-gallon fuel supply, she’s not heading out too far. (Early models had only 100 gallons of fuel.) The cabin layout sleeps six and includes a convertible dinette and settee, V-berths forward, and a small galley area. The head compartment is located just inside the salon door where it’s convenient to the cockpit. Visibility from the semi-enclosed lower helm is very good, and hatches under the helm seats provide good engine access. The teak cabinetry and woodwork is nice, but storage space is limited both in the cabin and the cockpit. A good-running boat, twin 225hp Chrysler gas engines (318-cid inboards) will cruise the Sport Cruiser at 20 knots and deliver a top speed in the neighborhood of 27 knots.
