Trojan Yachts
44 Convertible
1974–78
The Trojan 44 Convertible was built on the same hull as the Trojan 44 MY—a low-deadrise, modified-V affair with a long skeg ending just forward of the shafts. With her sweeping sheer, the profile of the 44 Convertible was considered very handsome in her day. Notably, this was Trojan’s first (and only) attempt at a serious sportfisherman prior to the 1980s. There were two interior arrangements: plan “A” was a Mediterranean version with crew quarters forward with one head for the huge master stateroom and guest cabin, and plan “B” (which became standard) is a more conventional layout with a deckhouse galley, two staterooms, and two heads. On deck, the 44’s cockpit is very spacious with room for a mounted chair and a molded tackle center. The flybridge is well arranged for a boat of this vintage, and the side decks are wide enough for secure passage forward. Several diesel options were available during her production run. The Cummins VT-903-Ms (400hp) provide a top speed of 23 knots and an average cruising speed of 18–19 knots.
