11 Meter Express
1983–89
Obviously dated by today’s crop of high-style family sportboats, the Trojan 11 Meter Express was considered a radical design when she was introduced back in 1983. With her dramatic hull graphics (toned down in later years) and super-wide 14-foot beam, the 11 Meter is a very big 37-footer. Like all of Trojan’s early express boats, she rides on a stable DeltaConic hull and it’s notable that the entire hull—including the bottom—is cored. Below deck, the interior is a blend of curved bulkheads, indirect lighting, and off-white laminates—what Trojan marketing gurus called a Eurostyle decor. This interior, however, may not appeal to everyone. For one thing, there’s no mid stateroom (a standard feature in most modern sportboats), and the L-shaped galley extends far into the salon, which interrupts the flow of traffic. On deck, the bi-level cockpit is arranged with L-shaped lounge seating forward and bench seating aft. A bow pulpit, radar arch and swim platform were standard. Twin 350hp gas engines cruise at 18 knots (26–27 knots top). Optional 375hp Cat diesels cruise at 24 knots, and 485hp 6-71s cruise at 28–29 knots.
