Tollycraft Yachts 37 Long Range Cruiser
With her muscular, trawler-style appearance, it comes as a surprise to learn that the Tollycraft 37 LRC was not built on the full-displacement (or even semi-displacement) hull typically seen in most long range cruisers of this type. Instead, she rides on a modified-V hull—essentially the same planing hull used in the production of the Tollycraft’s popular 37 Convertible—capable of faster than displacement-hull speeds with trawler-size engines. While some may argue that her modified-V bottom is a poor compromise in a long range cruising yacht, the absence of a second stateroom in the 37 LRC is perhaps a more significant drawback in a boat this size. Included among her features is a day head in the full-beam salon (a real convenience), excellent visibility from the enclosed pilothouse, port and starboard deck doors, a Portuguese bridgedeck forward of the wheelhouse, pilothouse access to the engine room, and a small cockpit with transom door and swim platform. No award winner when it comes to looks (a real tub, actually), twin 140hp GM 4-53 diesels cruise at 8–9 knots with a top speed of about 13 knots.
