Sportfisher 37
2004–07
An English-built fishing boat is a true rarity. Fishing boats aren’t popular in Europe, mostly because the fish are smaller and less challenging. The Sunseeker 37 was an attempt by this well-known U.K. builder to penetrate the American sportfish market by combining the essential elements of a good express fisherman with the performance and luxury that Sunseeker is known for. If there’s a shortcoming in this versatile design, it’s probably her relatively small cockpit. This is because the centerline helm console is located well aft to make room for the large curved seating arrangement forward. Swivel helm seats are a thoughtful touch, and the side-boarding ladder is an excellent safety feature designed to keep swimmers away from the props. Whatever the 37 lacked in fishability, her well-appointed interior with its satin-finished cherry cabinets and meticulous fit and finish is pure Sunseeker luxury. A livewell, bait prep center, and fish boxes were standard. Built on a high-performance stepped hull, twin 310hp Volvo sterndrive diesels will reach a top speed over 35 knots, and triple 250hp Yamahas top out at over 40 knots.
