46 Sundeck

1987-94

The President 485 MY is actually an updated version of the popular and long-running President 46 Sundeck (1987–92), an affordably priced family cruiser noted for her sleek profile and generous interior accommodations. The only difference between the two models is the integral swim platform of the 485—a modest design change that adds a couple of feet to the hull length and much to her already stylish appearance. Inside, the standard two-stateroom floorplan of the 485 is essentially unchanged from her predecessor. The galley and dinette are down and a lower helm is standard. (Several alternate layouts were offered over the years including three- and even four-stateroom layouts.) The woodwork (teak or light oak) is well-crafted and applied liberally throughout. Note that the engine room is accessed via a door in the aft cabin wardrobe. Hull construction is solid fiberglass with a shallow keel below and a relatively steep 16° of transom deadrise. Powered with 375-hp diesels, the President 46/485 will cruise at 16–17 knots and reach close to 20 knots wide open.
