Nordhavn Yachts
50
1996–2006
The Nordhavn 50 is a heavily built pilothouse trawler designed for long range cruising in comfort and security. She’s constructed on a full-displacement hull with a deep keel, high-freeboard bow, and a bulbous bow extension (beneath the waterline) that increases both fuel efficiency and hull speed. The main saloon was offered in a standard or asymmetric widebody version, the latter offering more interior room. Below deck, the Nordhavn 50’s standard two-stateroom, two-head interior (a three-stateroom interior was optional) has a large U-shaped galley forward to port in the salon, and an amidships owner’s suite—accessed from the salon or pilothouse—below with walkaround queen bed. The guest stateroom is forward with a portside double bed and office space opposite. The main salon has teak and spruce sole with settee to port with teak table, overhead handrail, hanging locker aft, and TV locker to starboard. Four steps up is the pilothouse with Stidd helm chair, L-shaped settee with pull-out pilot berth, and port/starboard deck access doors. A 40hp Yanmar wing engine is aft of the main engine. Cruise at 7–8 knots with a single 300hp Lugger diesel.
