43-45-479 Trawler

2006–12

Mainship Yachts 43-45-479 Trawler
Introduced in 2006, the Mainship 43 Trawler (called the 45 Trawler in 2008–09; 479 Trawler in 2010–12) remained the flagship of Mainship’s fleet until the company closed down in early 2012. As explained some years ago on the Mainship website, the semi-displacement hull permits owners to “cruise with the efficiency of a traditional trawler or sprint to your destination like a modern express.” That describes most of today’s performance trawlers—boaters love the classic trawler “look,” they just don’t like the slow hull speed of a real displacement trawler. The two-stateroom interior of the Mainship 43/45—updated in the 479 model to include a double bed in the guest cabin as well as a second head—features a step-down galley forward of the salon and a queen island bed in the master stateroom. A broad 15'6" beam allows for an expansive salon, and wide side decks are secured by high bulwarks. Note the deck access door at the lower helm. On the downside, the cockpit is small and some owners have complained of a high running angle. With a 777-gallon fuel capacity, range is excellent. Cruise at 18 knots (low 20s top) with Yanmar 440hp V-drive diesels.
