30 Sedan

1981–83

Mainship Yachts 30 Sedan
Introduced in 1981 as a downsized version of the original Mainship 34 Motor Cruiser, the Mainship 30 Sedan incorporated many of the virtues of her larger sistership— in particular, a low price and economical operation—in a smaller, less-expensive package. She’s built on a solid fiberglass semi-displacement hull with a deep forefoot, rounded bilges and a shallow keel—an easily driven hull capable of excellent economy at her 6-knot hull speed. With her roomy cockpit, it’s hardly surprising that the interior of the Mainship 30 is fairly small. The compact salon came with a high-low table and a sofa that converts to a double berth, and a large head opposite the galley has a separate stall shower. (Note that early models had a foldaway “Pullman” berth that stowed inside a starboard wall locker.) The Mainship’s cockpit is very large with room for several deck chairs, and the flybridge seats three with the helm to port. Additional features include a lower helm, a big engine room, and wide side decks. A single 124hp Volvo diesel will cruise the Mainship 30 Sedan efficiently at 8–10 knots and deliver a top speed of about 14 knots.
