Mainship Yachts
34 II
1979–82
Introduced in 1980 as a sistership to the hugely popular Mainship 34 Motor Cruiser (1978–82), the Mainship 34 II is an inexpensive and economical cruiser whose large cockpit would, it was hoped, make her an appealing choice for budget-minded anglers. She rides on the same seakindly, semi-displacement hull as the Motor Cruiser with a full keel and well-protected running gear. Below deck, the single-stateroom floorplan of the Mainship II is smaller than the Motor Cruiser, especially in the salon where the dimensions are very compact. A lower helm was standard, and the head—opposite the galley on the lower level—includes a separate stall shower. The pass-through window from the galley to the salon is a nice touch. A sliding glass door opens to the Mainship’s large 70 square-foot cockpit, and a steep ladder leads up to the flybridge, which seats two. Additional features include a roomy engine compartment, wide side decks, a foredeck mast, and teak interior trim. Never a big seller, a single turbocharged 160hp Perkins diesel will cruise the Mainship 34 II at 10–11 knots.
