Hatteras Yachts
72 Motor Yacht
2008–13
With her wide 20'2" beam, huge fuel capacity, and enormous 160,000-pound displacement, the Hatteras 72 dwarfs any European motoryacht her size in living space and passenger comfort. This is a big 72-footer with an expansive main salon and opulent master suite with king bed and his-and-hers heads. Forward of the salon—and on the same level—is a huge country kitchen galley with an island and dinette. There is no lower helm in this layout although one was optional. Offered with three, four, or even five staterooms, the standard three-stateroom arrangement includes a sitting area in the full-beam master and two VIP guest cabins forward with en suite heads. Because the Hatteras 72 is a semi-custom yacht, any number of interior layouts were possible. The same was true of the flybridge—it could be open or fully enclosed and air-conditioned (which most are). In the cavernous engine room, a forced air induction system reduces saltwater intrusion from the outside. It takes a lot of power to get the Hatteras 72 up and running. Even with big 1800hp Cat C12 engines (18–20 knots cruise) she’s a slow ride compared to most of her European counterparts.
