Hatteras Yachts
70 Motor Yacht
1988–95
Introduced in 1988, the Hatteras 70 Motor Yacht was available in a standard widebody configuration with a full beam salon and small aft deck, or with walkaround side decks with wing doors and an expanded (covered) aft deck for outdoor entertaining. While most Hatteras 70 Motor Yachts were delivered with semi-custom interiors, a four-stateroom, three-head layout was standard. For privacy, both the galley and enclosed pilothouse are separate from the salon. The aft master suite, accessed from a private stairway leading down from the salon, boasts a walkaround king bed in addition to a walk-in wardrobe and private head with full-size tub. Outside of the master stateroom is an office with wood paneling, built-in desk/credenza and shelves. (An optional layout trades this study for a fifth stateroom.) The amidships VIP stateroom with queen-size bed, port twin-berth stateroom, and bow crew stateroom are accessed from the wheelhouse. A stacking washer/dryer unit is concealed in this companionway. Detroit 870hp 12V71 engines cruise the Hatteras 70 Motor Yacht at 16–18 knots. Later models with 1,075hp 12V92 diesels cruise a knot or two faster.
