43 Sport Express

The Hatteras 43 Sport Express was designed to meet the needs of anglers and cruisers alike. She was one of the largest open express boats in existence during the late 1990s and—because she was a Hatteras—one of the most expensive. Notably, she’s built on the same hull used in the production of the popular Hatteras 43 Convertible (1991–98), a proven offshore design with moderate beam and an unusually deep keel. The huge bi-level cockpit of the 43 Sport Express came with a complete rigging station, lift-out fish boxes, livewell, transom door, and washdowns. Access to the engine room is beneath the aft-facing bench seat in the cockpit that rises for easy walk-through entry. Two interior layouts were offered with the standard plan including berths for four and a separate stall shower in the head. (An optional cabin layout with an aft head and smaller galley has a convertible settee and dinette that raised the sleeping capacity to six.) Additional features include light oak interior woodwork, a low-profile radar arch, side-dumping exhausts, and a bow pulpit. Twin 535hp 6-92 Detroit diesels cruise the 43 Sport Express at 26–27 knots (30+ top).
