43 Convertible

With her contemporary styling, versatile layout, and large cockpit, the Hatteras 43 Convertible ranked with the top midsize sportfishermen of the 1990s. Hatteras sold a lot of these boats and used models remained popular for years after she went out of production in 1998. Like all Hatteras convertibles of her era, she was built on a low-deadrise hull with moderate beam, shallow keel, and a solid fiberglass bottom. A galley-down, two-stateroom layout was standard, while an optional single-stateroom floorplan traded the guest cabin for a large U-shaped dinette. Although the salon dimensions in both layouts are somewhat compact for a 43-footer, the light ash woodwork opens up the interior considerably. A washer/dryer is located in the forward companionway, and there’s a space-saving curved shower door in the head. The large 120 square-foot cockpit is tournament-grade all the way with rigging station, livewell, lift-out fish box and direct access to the engine room—a feature seldom found in convertibles under 45 feet. Additional features include a salon entertainment system, wide side decks, and molded bow pulpit. Detroit 535hp 6V92 diesels cruise the Hatteras 43 at 22–24 knots (high 20s top).
