42 LRC MK I

The Hatteras 42 LRC (Long Range Cruiser) was introduced at a time when the influx of Asian trawlers dominated the U.S trawler market. Unlike most so-called trawlers of that era with their semi-displacement hulls, the 42 LRC was constructed on a full displacement hull with rounded bilges forward that gradually harden to form a shallow “V” at the transom. Below decks, the two-stateroom varnished teak interior with teak and holly sole is straightforward and traditional. An in-line galley occupies the port side of the salon, and large front and side windows provide good visibility from the lower helm. Note the overhead grab rails. Sliding side doors in the salon provide easy access to the decks. To port of the forward companionway are two large chart drawers positioned just above a large cabinet that houses an optional freezer. The forward stateroom includes adult-sized V-berths and storage while the aft stateroom has twin beds and two large closets. The MK I model was replaced in 1980 with the 42 LRC MK II with a full-width aft deck, extended salon and a larger flybridge. Twin GM 112hp 4-53 diesels cruise at 7–8 knots.
