41 Convertible

Hatteras got it right with the introduction of the 41 Convertible in 1986. Hailed as the first of a new series of next-generation Hatteras designs, she was the first to have a fully cored hull (although discontinued early in the production run), and vacuum bagging was used extensively in the construction process. The “new look” window treatment, solid front windshield, stepped sheer, and rakish flybridge were the forerunners of the company’s late 1990s convertible styling. Several floorplans were offered in the Hatteras 41. In the original two-stateroom layout, the inline galley consumes a lot of the salon’s living space. The master stateroom is forward with walkaround queen berth, and the amidships guest stateroom has over/under berths. A single-stateroom, galley-down floorplan was also available, and in 1989, a revised two-stateroom floorplan greatly improved the original layout by moving the galley to starboard. A light ash interior became available in 1987. A transom door and tackle center were standard, and the engine room air intakes are located under the gunwales. Fuel was increased to 500 gallons in 1987. Detroit 465hp 6-71s diesels cruise at 22–23 knots. Detroit 535hp 6V92 engines cruise at 25–26 knots.
