The largest of the Hatteras Long Range Cruisers, the 65 LRC was built on a stretched 58 LRC displacement hull with a broad beam, deep prop-protecting keel and rounded bilges that harden at the transom. Construction is solid fiberglass, and at 114,000 pounds the Hatteras 65 qualifies as a serious heavyweight. She features a spacious four-stateroom layout with a fully enclosed pilothouse and a galley open to the salon. A spiral teak staircase aft and to port in the salon leads down to the owner’s stateroom and nearby engine room. Three guest staterooms and two full heads are forward of the engine room with upper/lower bunks in the bow stateroom and twin beds in the port and starboard amidships guest staterooms. Note the day head opposite the galley. The 65 LRC was also offered with an optional extended deckhouse floorplan with the salon lengthened to include the aft deck and enlarged pilothouse with U-shaped dinette. Designed for all-weather cruising, the curved bulwark on the foredeck provides protection against breaking seas. With a range of over 2,500 nautical miles, the 65 LRC will cruise at 10–12 knots with standard GM 174hp 6-71N diesels. A total of 13 were built.
