Bertram Yachts
50 Convertible
1987–96
The Bertram 50 Convertible ranks among the best-selling sportfishing boats her size ever produced. Combining handsome lines, quality construction, and excellent performance, the Bertram 50 was a state of the art boat in her day with few serious competitors. Built on a rugged deep-V hull with cored hullsides and moderate beam, her superb seakeeping and handling qualities are almost legendary. Most Bertram 50 Convertibles were sold with a standard three-stateroom interior with galley and dinette forward in the salon, a choice of teak or light oak woodwork, and two queen staterooms. An alternate two-stateroom, galley-down layout with breakfast bar was also popular for those favoring a more spacious salon. All interiors featured Corian galley counters, under-counter refrigeration, built-in entertainment center, central vacuum system, and overhead rod storage in the salon. Topside, a wraparound helm console can accommodate big-screen video displays. A transom door with gate, removable in-deck fish box, livewell, and bait prep center with sink were standard in the 108 square-foot cockpit. Detroit 735hp 8V92 diesels cruise the Bertram 50 Convertible at 22–24 knots (high 20s top).
