30 Moppie

Bertram Yachts 30 Moppie
The Bertram 30 Moppie is a good-looking inboard express with separate cockpit layouts for fishing or cruising. Building a crossover boat like the Moppie involves compromise—the styling has to be functional (not too flashy) in order to attract the sportfishing buyer, and the cockpit seating so important in a family express is just wasted space to the fishing crowd. Bertram split the difference with the 30 Moppie by offering different versions of the same boat. In the Sportfish configuration the cockpit includes a bait prep center with sink, livewell, insulated fish box, and fresh and raw water washdowns. A wide 11'3" beam gives the Moppie the stability to support a full tower. With the Cruising Edition, L-lounge seating with storage under is opposite the helm on the bridge deck, and a fiberglass arch was the preferred option. Both cockpit layouts include a transom door and rod storage. Below decks, the Moppie’s well-appointed interior with teak and holly sole features a convertible dinette and head/shower to port, full-service galley to starboard, and an offset double berth forward. Gas engines were standard but most were diesel powered. Among several options, Cummins 315hp engines cruise at 24–26 knots.
