Azimut Yachts 71 Motor Yacht; 76 Cockpit MY
The Azimut 71 Motor Yacht — the 76 Cockpit MY, is the same boat with a cockpit extension — is a beaujpgully appointed semicustom cruiser whose high-end interior and excellent performance are typical of late 1980s Italian motor yachts. Built to ABS standards on a beamy deep-V hull with propeller tunnels, the Italian styling of the Azimut 71 conceals one of the most spacious interiors to be found in a motor yacht this size. Indeed, she is one of very few yachts in her class to include four staterooms, each with its own head, in addition to crew quarters forward. The standard floorplan has a large master suite aft, two guest cabins ahead of the engine room, a third that rivals the master for space, and twin berths in the compact crew quarters forward. (Note that several alternate floorplans were also available.) Where most Italian yachts have the helm open to the salon, the 71 has a separate wheelhouse similar to many American motor yacht designs. Notable features of the Azimut 71 include a spacious walk-in engine room, a formal dining area, teak decks, and a huge flybridge with an aft deck overhang. MAN diesels cruise at 20 knots (mid 20s top).
