Azimut Yachts
36 Flybridge
1993–98
Introduced in the early 1990s when European sport cruisers were first becoming popular in America, the 36 is the smallest Azimut model ever marketed in the U.S. Like her larger siblings in the Azimut fleet, the 36 was built on a lightweight deep-V hull with moderate beam, prop pockets, and an integral swim platform. The interior—a downsized version of the Azimut 40 and 43 models—is arranged with a raised wheelhouse two steps up from the salon level where helm visibility is very good. The galley is down, and while there are two heads in this layout, neither has a separate stall shower. The interior is elegant, the joinery flawless, and the hardware and fabrics are first rate. The cockpit is partially sheltered by a bridge overhang, and a large hatch in the sole provides indirect access (via the lazarette) to a very tight-fitting engine room. Topside, the low-profile flybridge has a triple-wide helm seat and a nearly full-width sun pad aft. Additional features include wide side decks, a teak cockpit sole, and a second sun pad at the bow. Standard 300hp Cat diesels cruise the Azimut 36 at over 20 knots and reach a top speed in the high 20s.
