43 Flybridge

1993–98

Azimut Yachts 43 Flybridge
One of the early Azimut models imported into the U.S. market, the graceful profile of the 43 seems conservative compared with the lavish styling of Azimut’s more recent designs. Built on a lightweight deep-V hull with propeller pockets to reduce draft, her two-stateroom interior is an impressive display of Italian design and craftsmanship. The galley and both staterooms are down (note that a three-stateroom, galley-up layout was optional), and facing settees in the salon will seat a small group in elegant surroundings. Note that neither head has a separate stall shower; rather, bidets are installed in the European fashion. The lower helm is to port (curiously), and because the side windows are so low, visibility for a tall helmsman is marginal. The engine room is reached through a hatch in the cockpit where service access between the engines is a tight squeeze. Topside, the low side rails on the flybridge provide little security when standing up. Standard features include a huge flybridge sun pad, power side windows at the helm, built-in cockpit seating, low-profile arch, and serviceable side decks. Twin 435hp Cats cruise the Azimut 43 at 23–24 knots (high 20s top).
