WARNING: The New Princess Y85 Motor Yacht May Cause Serious Buying Lust
The new Princess Yachts Y85 Motor Yacht is a marvel of modern design. Put simply, she is absolutely gorgeous. And she will induce some serious yacht lust. Luckily, you can easily satiate this desire by ordering one through HMY Yacht Sales.
The Princess Y85 has been touted as the catalyst for a new look for future Princess yachts. It is another reflection of the design revolution under Antony Sheriff, executive chairman of the UK yard, who joined Princess from supercar builder McLaren. For the Y85 design, he again added Pininfarina (the same firm they partnered with to create the sleek, luxurious R35 high-performance sports yacht) to his design team.
The Y85’s elegant sweeping profile houses an interior haven that raises the bar for modern living. Her unique integrated hardtop is not an afterthought as is common for others; in fact, it’s part and parcel of the lines, one of the many understated design elements that set this vessel apart from its competitors. Additionally, for those who crave more sun and air, they can open the custom louvred panels.
One of the successes of this design, which follows a trend other builders like OKEAN Yachts are leaning on, is the strong connection between the exterior and the interior. Designed as a single piece, the intention of the Y85 design team was designing without distinguishing the interior from the exterior in terms of style, creating a seamless experience for the owner and guests.
This is on full display on the expansive single-level main deck, which provides ample entertaining space. The aft deck and the main saloon merge seamlessly thanks to sliding-glass doors that open wide to allow the outside into a space that’s already flooded with natural light. The saloon features twin L-shaped seating areas with a two-seater sofa and coffee table, and entertainment center incorporating a 55” UHD LED TV on an electric raise/lower mechanism that rises from behind the starboard couch, a Naim audio system and ceiling-mounted speakers, sideboard unit with bottle and glass storage and refrigerator, dining area for eight people with a full-height panoramic window, and a day head.
The galley arrangement is flexible and includes ample storage lockers, cupboards, and drawers, plus an electrically operated sliding screen to fully enclose the galley if you so choose.
Continuing aft through the saloon, the covered cockpit beckons. Here you’ll find U-shaped seating with teak folding table, twin transom gates leading to bathing platform with electro-hydraulic raise/lower mechanism, foldaway swimming ladder, hot and cold shower, the door leading to crew quarters and engine room from side deck, and a remote control 4.4m telescopic passerelle with folding handrail.
The flybridge on this 85’ motor yacht is an irresistible invitation to al fresco entertainment with a large U-shaped seating area with a teak table opposite a well-equipped, sleek, modern wet bar with electric barbeque, plus twin forward-facing L-shaped seating and a large sun pad with storage below. Owners also have the option to add a built-in spa bath.
The helm position features a powered raise/lower console, repeat navigation equipment, including radar/chart plotter and engine instrumentation, and twin adjustable helm seats.
Want to add a tender? No problem. The boat deck is also spacious enough for an Opacmare crane that can hoist a 15’ tender easily, leaving the bathing platform uncluttered.
The wheelhouse features twin helm seats with electric adjustment for helmsman, U-shaped seating with a table to port, Helmsman’s door to side deck, and an electric opening window to port.
Below deck, up to eight guests are accommodated across four beautifully appointed ensuite cabins. The massive full beam (20.67 ft) master suite is a champion of spatial design, while the forward, ensuite VIP cabin boasts a large double bed and walk-in-wardrobe, which is something of a rarity on yachts of this size.
One double and one twin cabin (convertible into a double) complete the 85’s spacious accommodations. And separate crew quarters ensure full privacy.
On the power side, the latest in the Y series lineup borrows from the sportier S series models, giving the 85 plenty of pep. With twin MAN V12 engines propelling her to a top speed of 33 knots, she flies past her competition without looking back.
She looks fast even when she’s sitting still.
Unrivaled, the Y85 is uniquely and definitively Princess. Don’t miss your chance to own this motor yacht masterpiece. Contact HMY today to view and sea trial.
