Viking Yachts hasn't just raised the bar for sportfish boatbuilding, they've also set a clear industry standard with motor yacht design. The new Viking 82 Cockpit Motor Yacht, the second hull in the line, exemplifies just how well-versed the company is when it comes to bringing luxury and excellence to the sea.
On the 82 Cockpit Motor Yacht, the enclosed bridge configuration gives guests the option of a second, upper salon and for the captain, an upper command station with full protection from the weather.
Intelligently designed to deliver the cockpit space of a large convertible, the 82 CMY has the room you and your fishing buddies will need to raise fish when the mood strikes. Of course, there's plenty of room for relaxing, too, on this versatile deck arrangement that features both an observation mezzanine and aft-deck dinette with U-shaped settee.
Some of the standard amenities in the low-profile, open galey include Granite countertops, under-counter refrigerator (2) and freezer (1) units, high-gloss walnut cabinetry and a starboard-side pantry. Viking will also offer a closed galley design option for the 82 CMY.
Once you access the bright white engineroom from the observation mezzanine Viking's legendary attention to even the smallest most hidden detail is apparent. Here you will have ample headroom and walk-around access to the twin 1925-hp Caterpillar C32A diesels.
The newest 82 Cockpit Motor Yacht, which is also offered with an open bridge option, will be shown at Viking's invitational 22nd Annual VIP Boat Show Preview February 2 and 3 at the Viking Yacht Service Center in Riviera Beach, Florida. In addition, the new Viking 68 Convertible, which is pictured below to the left of the 82 CMY, will also be part of the 17-vessel fleet ranging from 37 to 93 feet.

The aftershock of Viking's re-entry into the motor yacht arena with the 75MY is still being felt as the radical new design, coupled with Viking's superior quality and craftsmanship, have left tons of intrigue as to what is to come out of the New Jersey manufacturer. The next version of the 75 is set to debut in 2017 with some added benefits and will be appropriately named, the 82 Cockpit Motor Yacht.
The Viking 75 Motor Yacht and the Viking 82 Cockpit Motor Yacht are close siblings with mirror-image layouts and accommodations but as you’ll find, the 82 CMY comes with an exciting new twist. Capitalizing on an impressive 20 feet of beam, the 82 CMY offers guests the best there is in comfortable cruising. Maximizing your outdoor entertaining experience on the 82 CMY is a spacious after deck with U-shape seating and a teak pedestal table for al fresco dining. For the sun worshipers, the bow features a plush lounge and spacious sun pad area. The salon and formal dining area, complemented by designer furnishings, make for the ideal living and entertainment platform indoors. A casual lounge forward of the galley is perfectly situated for guests to take in breathtaking panoramic view from the wraparound windshield. Belowdecks, four well-appointed staterooms await guests including a full beam master suite featuring the ultimate in privacy and luxury. Two additional staterooms for crew are accessed from the stern complete with a small galley and convenient engine room access.
The 82 Cockpit Motor Yacht is available in both open bridge and enclosed bridge configurations. No matter which option an owner chooses, the helm station provides the operator with excellent visibility and a comprehensive electronics package. The open bridge with its million dollar views, exudes a party central atmosphere offering an airy and comfortable feel. The enclosed bridge will provided an added second salon aft, an excellent choice for those who want to escape the weather. Aside from the additional flybridge option, the feature that most sets the 82 Cockpit Motor Yacht apart from her 75 Motor Yacht sister ship is the 108 square-foot cockpit. Ideal for fishing, diving or just enjoying the extra space, the cockpit opens up a whole new world of possibilities not usually found aboard a motor yacht. Accessed by twin teak planked staircases on the after deck, the cockpit features the signature Viking observation mezzanine, a transom fish box, a pair of chill boxes for drinks, and a walk through transom door to the hydraulic swim platform.
