Viking Yachts 46 Billfish Walkthrough
As a mid-size sportfish, the new Viking 46 Billfish shines as either an owner/operator or captained Viking. Offering simplicity and ease of maintenance, she’s a ready-to-go fishing machine equipped for inshore and offshore missions as well as a versatile cruising boat with reliable inboard diesel power. Today we are on location in Riviera Beach, Florida with HMY Yacht Sales Professional Rob Spano at the Viking Yachts service center to bring you on a private walkthrough of the Viking Yachts 46 Billfish.
One of the greatest aspects of this 2020 46 Billfish is the amount of room in the cockpit. You've got over 140 square feet of fishing space accentuated by a 15 and a half foot beam. There is room for the whole crew in this space - you could comfortably fit five to six people in here on a fishing trip. As we start back here in the cockpit all the way in the transom box which is a live well/ fish box. You have two in-deck fish boxes port and starboard with an ice pump directly feeding from the Eskimo ice machine. Here on the starboard side mezzanine you have a refrigerated box that you could use for either bait or a drink box. You will also find pull out drawers for tackle storage and on the portside mezzanine area you have some nice seating. Under the seating is a deep freezer as well as an inserted tray that you can remove when you need to get to the freezer spot below. On the port mezzanine step is a refrigerated box that you could use for either rigged baits or an extra drink box.
Moving inside we will take a look at the command deck and some of the accommodations down below. As we come into the command deck you'll notice plenty of seating port and starboard. Both hatches do lift up over the engines so you have full access as well as an easy day hatch here that's in the centerline. There is adequate rod storage below the seating on both sides. As we enter the living space of the 46 Billfish below, you get to see some of that fit and finish work that The Viking Yacht Company is so well known for. Immediately to the starboard is the open galley. There is a freezer and a refrigerator drawer above, the electrical panel and there's plenty of storage. For meal prep you’ll find a convection microwave as well as a two burner cooktop stove hidden below the lid. To the port side is a large head with a full stand-up shower. Moving forward are the over and under bunks. Located just forward of the galley on the starboard side are two large hanging lockers as well as four pullout drawers below. Plenty of room for all your storage. All the way up front is an island queen master stateroom which has its own TV as well as a double hanging locker, more storage to port and starboard as well as a hatch to allow for some natural light and fresh air on days you want to open up the cabin.
Now that we've toured the interior accommodations, we're going to go upstairs to take a look the flybridge of the 46 Billfish where the captain runs the show. There is a lot of room up on the flybridge so guests can enjoy this space as well. There are two nice comfortable benches, port and starboard, that do have storage underneath. There's comfortable seating forward to the helm which is a great spot to sit while cruising. the electronics package on this Viking leaves nothing to be desired. As you can see everything is within an easy arm's reach of the captain. One of the really nice features of this Palm Beach style pod is the bow thruster thumb control as well as your large Garmin displays. The helm black box displays everything from your plotter, sounder, radar and everything down to your satellite TV if you wish as well as cameras. Additionally, you've got two engine displays and some other electronics including two VHF radios, your bow thruster control pad, as well as the ZF smart command panel. All easily within reach in your port radio box you. You also have the water maker display, Eskimo ice maker display and Seakeeper display panel on the inboard side. Like all Viking sportfishing boats, the Viking 46 Billfish has the teaser reels located above which gives the captain easy access for retrieval for deployment of his teasers into the water.
