The Viking 52 Convertible: A Midsize Fishing Machine
A product of Viking Yacht Company's constant evolution, the Viking 52 Convertible stems from siblings before her like the Viking 42, the Viking 55 and the Viking 62. Through and through, this addition to the fleet is a blue-water tournament contender flaunting all the latest treatments and engineering innovations. While she may be categorized as a smaller mid-sized model, she’s just as much of a sophisticated fishing machine as her larger stable-mates.
As with any Viking, each component of the 52 Convertible is first-class all the way beginning with the resin infused hull which includes end-grain balsa coring, DuPont Kevlar and knitted fiberglass laminates. To slice through head seas, the forward entry of the Viking 52 is ideally sharpened. The convex hull shape aids in buoyancy and molded bottom strakes provide lift for planing ability. Just like all new Vikings,
The spacious and inviting interior on the Vikiong 52 is made possible by a generous 17ft 6in beam. The comfortable salon features hand finished teak joinery and provides the perfect setting for indoor relaxation with a plush L-shaped lounge and home theater system. The L-shaped galley is cleverly outfitted with an island station, plenty of cabinetry, and top-of-the-line appliances. Dining space consists of an L-shaped dinette with sofa and a pair of bar stools accompanying the island.
The three-stateroom layout features an amidships master suite with ensuite head and fiberglass shower stall. Two additional staterooms afford comfortable accommodations with a variety of sleeping arrangements, plus a second head. Each stateroom is fashionably equipped and well appointed with spacious berths, generous storage, maple lined hanging lockers, television and stereo offerings. A laundry center in the companionway comes standard.
Both tournament and casual anglers alike will appreciate the tournament-grade 142 sq. ft. cockpit. The bi-level set up includes Viking's singature upper observation mezzanine with a built in tackle cabinet, a bait freezer and a step box cooler. In-deck fish and stowage wells, a transom door and lift gate, a transom live well, rounded coamings, flush rod holders, raw and freshwater wash down systems, and a self bailing cockpit are some of many standard features.
Tournament-proven design was also incorporationed in the the center console helm offering excellent visibility and ample navigation and communication electronics display space. Single lever electronic controls and DC power assisted hydraulic steering deliver precise handling in all sea conditions. Two pedestal helm seats are flanked with lounge seating and a pair of bucket seats forward. Standard power choices include MAN V8 and V12 engines and depending on the selection, the Viking 52 Convertible can deliver cruise speeds of 35 knots, with a top end of 40 knots plus depending upon load, sea conditions and other environmental factors.
